Atmospheric sintering SIC (pressureless sintering SIC, referred to as SSIC) is the same as cemented carbide, using powder metallurgy manufacturing methods to obtain high-purity monolithic silicon carbide. The crystal structure is different: α phase is granular crystal; β phase is needle crystal. It is composed of high-density granular α-phase silicon carbide, which is molded and sintered at high temperature to form an integral silicon carbide component. No free carbon graphite or silicon. This kind of silicon carbide is the hardest and most corrosion-resistant sealing material among all silicon carbide. Its temperature limit is 1370℃. Atmospheric sintered silicon carbide (SSIC) is the most widely used as seal and bearing in petrochemical industry.
