There are contact and non-contact mechanical seal pairs. Not only does the end face of the friction pair generate frictional heat due to friction in different states, but also the rotating element and the medium, flushing fluid or blocking fluid generate agitation heat due to agitation.
In addition, the medium or blocking fluid has a certain amount of medium heat due to different operating temperatures. This heat raises the temperature of the end face. Excessive temperature of the end face of the seal ring will cause the seal to work abnormally, such as: the film vaporization between the end faces causes the liquid film to instability; the sealing surface thermal cracks or thermal deformation cause thermal elastic instability; the increase in temperature promotes wear and corrosion.
Therefore, in order to ensure the normal operation of the mechanical seal, the temperature and deformation of its end surface must be controlled to be within the normal working range. In this way, the end face temperature of the mechanical seal must be determined first.
