Mechanical seal materials can be divided into four basic types according to their sealing surface lubrication methods:
1) The traditional contact mechanical seal, the process fluid flowing through the equipment lubricates the sealing surface;
2) Rely on the washing fluid separated during the process to cool and lubricate the mechanical seal of the sealing surface;
3) Dry-running mechanical seals relying on the sealing material to produce a lubricated sealing surface;
4) Rely on the mechanical seal to lubricate the sealing surface with gas introduced from the process or from the outside.
When selecting the sealing surface material, consider which type it belongs to. For various mechanical seals, the best matching of friction pair materials in use can ensure the longest life and the lowest operating costs.
The basic starting point for the selection of the sealing surface material of the mechanical seal is to ensure that the sealing surface material has the above-mentioned necessary characteristics as much as possible. According to most applications, in order to meet the tribological compatibility, chemical compatibility and electrochemical compatibility of the sealing pair materials, the soft-to-hard combination of the sealing pair materials is used for general media. In the sealing pair, the sealing surface of the soft material mainly depends on The running-in and self-lubricating properties of the wear table are maintained, and the hard material sealing surface is maintained by the high precision of the wear table. Only for special media containing hard solid particles, the hard-to-hard combination of the sealing secondary material is used.
