During the design of mechanical seal for pump, careful investigation and research must be carried out first to obtain the design conditions and required parameters:
1. Type of main engine and parts to be sealed.
2. Operating conditions: medium pressure, medium temperature and shaft speed. Name, composition and properties of the sealed medium. Including density, viscosity, vaporization pressure, corrosivity, suspended particles, etc.
3. Allowable limit value of leakage.
4. Shaft vibration and deflection.
5. Structure of mechanical seal part for pump: including the size (shaft or shaft sleeve), seal cavity structure, inner diameter and depth of seal cavity, assembly size of seal gland and roughness of each surface.
6. Auxiliary system: temperature of cooling water, whether conditions for taking flushing and cooling measures are met, whether there is a filtering device, etc.
