The current development trend of mechanical seals can be divided into the following points:
1. Narrow surface sealing improves sealing performance and reduces friction and heat generation;
2. To develop in the direction of high PV value to meet the requirements of high speed and high pressure;
3. Application of tandem double end face, multiple end face and compound seal (such as the combination of ordinary mechanical seal and bellows seal);
4. Low temperature and extremely low temperature sealing;
5. Sealing of high-viscosity and particle-containing media;
6. Seals with higher safety and reliability, such as mechanical seals for nuclear power plant pumps;
7. Research on special materials and the most suitable matching materials and easy-to-form materials (mainly interested in new ceramics);
8. Improvement of the shape of the sealing end face;
9. The application of easy to load and unload and split seal;
10. Application of welded bellows and multi-layer (two-layer, three-layer) bellows;
11. Application of leakage detection and alarm device on sealing surface;
12. Research on scientific and systematic management.
