High pressure mechanical seal requirements

1. Increase the cross section of the sealing parts

The cross-section of the rotating parts should be enlarged, and the static ring should also have a larger cross-section. Do not have steps or grooves on the outside diameter of the static ring. However, it should be noted that as the width b of the sealing surface increases, thermal deformation and wear will also be affected. With this increase, the thickness of the gland must also be increased to prevent deformation and can withstand pressure. Use heavy-load springs and use larger diameter pins to accommodate larger starting torque.

2. Improve the processing accuracy of sealing parts

(1) The hole surface of the static ring at the bottom of the gland should ensure high flatness, because under high pressure, any high point on the surface will be transmitted to the static ring and cause leakage;

(2) Improve the machining accuracy of the inner and outer diameter and width of the sealing surface, because under high pressure, the accuracy of the inner and outer diameter and width of the seal has a significant impact on the change of pressure. The roughness of the sealing end surface after grinding and polishing is Ra0.05 ~0.025 (▽12~▽13), the flatness is limited to 1 light band. In addition, the verticality of the friction end surface and the accuracy of the shaft should be improved accordingly.
