Overview of high-speed, high-pressure, and high-temperature mechanical seals

(1) According to the classification standards of mechanical seals, when the pressure of the seal cavity exceeds 3Mpa, the mechanical seal used is a high-pressure mechanical seal.

(2) When the average linear velocity of the seal end surface is 25-100m/s, it is defined as a high-speed mechanical seal. High-pressure and high-speed seals can adopt various forms of mechanical seals, such as floating ring seals, mechanical seals plus floating ring seals, dry gas seals, and metal bellows seals.

(3) High temperature mechanical seal:

For mechanical seals, when the working temperature exceeds 80°C, it is considered a high temperature condition.

When the temperature reaches high temperature conditions, the friction coefficient of the sealing surface increases with the increase of temperature, and the wear becomes serious, and thermal cracking or deformation of the sealing ring may occur; the durability of the auxiliary sealing ring is reduced, aging, and decomposition.
